Weather Exec Ira Scharf Named Chief Operating Officer at ClimaCell

Scharf will lead go-to-market and revenue operations as the company enters its next stage of growth

We’re happy to announce that Ira Scharf has joined ClimaCell as Chief Operating Officer. Ira comes to us with deep experience in leadership roles in the weather industry. He spent 8 years at The Weather Company (acquired by IBM) as Division General Manager responsible for delivering high-end weather decision support tools to markets where weather is mission critical, including aviation, energy, insurance and financial services.  Following that Ira was President of Commercial Services at weather tech company AirDat (acquired by Panasonic). Most recently, he was Chief Strategy Officer at BitSight Technologies, a leading cyber security solutions company.

“The weather industry is at a point where innovation is critical,” said Ira. “ClimaCell is in the unique position of having pioneered a way to bring new sources of data into the industry, and deliver solutions that drive real business results for customers. I’m very excited to be joining this growing team.”


Ira holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in computer science from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
