The Story

As Via was scaling globally adding more riders and drivers to their ridesharing network, the team needed to ensure their operations would scale with the business. Using ClimaCell, Ari and his team were able to identify opportunities to improve rider satisfaction, run more efficient technology, and ultimately make operational decisions faster and with confidence all from one place.

Rider Satisfaction
Via’s secret sauce is being able to pool riders together based on their end destination. This allows Via to offer shared rides efficiently to save people money while also reducing the amount of congestion. While this offering sounds wonderful, if customers experience long wait times or a lack of drivers they’ll quit and select a different service. With ClimaCell, Via puts predictive and real-time weather data into action to ensure drivers are where they need to be at the right times providing the best rider experience possible.
More Efficient Technology
It’s no secret weather impacts the flow of city traffic, but having one weather forecast for an entire city causes constant inaccuracies. It might be raining and windy on one side of the city and calm and sunny on the other side of the city. Via relies on ClimaCell’s HyperCast and granular localized weather forecasts to optimize their service based on real-time weather changes and street level focused data.
Operational Decision Making
Being able to make decisions based on the weather is a competitive advantage in the on-demand and technology industry, and utilizing ClimaCell’s Insights Dashboard allows Via to do just that by understanding the impact weather will have on their operations both predictive and in real-time, and automating action plans accordingly.
